Mike Tyson Daughter Dies

Exodus Tyson's 4-year-old daughter passed away at 11.45 a.m Tuesday. It is one day after she was discovered hanging from a treadmill cable in her family's Phoenix home, police said.

Exodus Tyson's 7-year-old brother found her Monday with her neck in a cord dangling from the exercise machine, police Sgt. Andy Hill said.

"There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus," the family said in a statement. "We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal."

"Our sympathies go out to the family," Hill said Tuesday.

"Somehow she was playing on this treadmill, and there's a cord that hangs under the console — it's kind of a loop," Hill said. "Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it."

Exodus's mother took her daughter out of the cable, called 911 and attempted to revive her.

Responding officers and firefighters performed CPR on the little girl. She was rushed to nearby St. Joe's Hospital after she was found around 10:30 a.m. local time, MyFOXPhoenix.com reported.

Hill said former heavyweight champion Tyson, 42, had been in Las Vegas but flew to Phoenix immediately after learning of the accident.

"The Tyson family would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks for all your prayers and support, and we ask that we be allowed our privacy at this difficult time," the boxer said in a statement.

Brief footage from local TV station KTVK showed Tyson arriving at the hospital in a white button-up and black pants, and looking around with a frown before going inside.

Hill said everything in the investigation pointed to a "tragic accident."

"There's nothing in the investigation that revealed anything suspicious," he said.

The family's home is in a modest, quiet neighborhood. Neighbors say they saw Tyson there from time to time and the children played outside regularly.

Dinka Radic, who lives across the street, says the little girl would ask her if she had any chocolate in the house. When Radic would get some and give it to her, Exodus would hug the woman's knees and "kiss, kiss, kiss."

The neighborhood contrasts starkly with the lavish lifestyle Tyson had through his tumultuous years of boxing, when he spent tens of millions of dollars and says he had millions more stolen from him by unscrupulous associates. During two years at the height of his career, he earned $140 million.

The death of his child in such an unusual accident adds an awful chapter to the boxer's troubled life.

Tyson first began boxing in a facility for juvenile delinquents in upstate New York at the age of 12. Eight years later, he became the youngest heavyweight champion ever when he knocked out Trevor Berbick in 1986. But in 1990, he was defeated by James "Buster" Douglas in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history, and soon after was convicted of raping a beauty pageant contestant in Indianapolis.

Tyson, who still denies he raped the woman, served three years in prison.

A few years later, he served three months in jail for beating up two men after a minor car crash in suburban Washington.

As his career continued, so did his bizarre behavior. He bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear during a boxing match and once threatened to eat the children of heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis.

Although Tyson's children had lived in their unassuming neighborhood for several years, he purchased a separate home in the tony Phoenix suburb of Paradise Valley in 2005 for $2.1 million, selling it two years later for $2.3 million.

In November 2007, Tyson spent 24 hours in Maricopa County's "Tent City" jail after pleading guilty to one count of cocaine possession and one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence. Police found the drug when they pulled over Tyson's car after he left a Scottsdale night club.

According to police, Tyson said after his arrest that he bought cocaine "whenever I can get my hands on it."

At Tyson's sentencing hearing, nearly a year after the arrest, his attorney David Chesnoff said his client had taken 29 drug tests without a relapse and was attending Alcoholic Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Tyson had become an example of how one overcomes problems with drugs, a violent past and poor upbringing, Chesnoff said.

"He's tried his hardest," his attorney said, "despite coming from almost impossible beginnings."

Wisconsin no call list update

Wisconsin no call list update.

MADISON (AP) - Wisconsinites who want to be on the most updated do-not-call list have until this weekend to sign up.

The no-call list is updated quarterly. Names drop off the list after two years unless people sign up again.

Glen Loyd is a spokesman for the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. He says people who sign up by Sunday will be on the July 1 no-call list. Otherwise they have to wait until the October list comes out.

The list protects cell phones and land lines from unwanted telemarketer calls. Registration is free.

Loyd says he can never remember when he signed up so he just signs up every year.

He advises people not to wait until the last minute. He says the agency gets as many as 100,000 registrations in one day, which bogs the system down.

Benjamin Cardozo Is The First Hispanic Justice

Benjamin Cardozo
Judge Sonia Sotomayor has been choosen to replace David H Souter. She is the first hispanic justice to serve Supreme Court. Is it true?

The Answer is "NO". It's wrong.

Benjamin Cardozo is the first one.

“persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican, Central or South American, or others Spanish or Portuguese culture or origin, regardless of race,” Benjamin Cardozo, whose surname is Portuguese, was the first Hispanic Justice.

Everyone says that Bill Richardson is an Hispanic governor, and I don’t see how Bill Richardson is any more Hispanic than Benjamin Cardozo.

Sotomayor’s assertion that “a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male” really rubs me the wrong way.

Obama Chooses Sotomayor for Supreme Court Nominee

SOTOMAYOR
Sotomayor with complete name Sonia Sotomayor will be nominated be Supreme Court at US.

President Obama will nominate Judge Sonia Sotomayor of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as his first appointment to the court, officials said Tuesday, and has scheduled an announcement for 10:15 a.m. at the White House.

If confirmed by the Democratic-controlled Senate, Judge Sotomayor, 54, would replace Justice David H. Souter to become the second woman on the court and only the third female justice in the history of the Supreme Court. She also would be the first Hispanic justice to serve on the Supreme Court.

Mr. Obama telephoned Judge Sotomayor at 9 p.m. on Monday, officials said, advising her that she was his choice to fill the Supreme Court vacancy. Later Monday night, Mr. Obama called the three other finalists — Judge Diane P. Wood of Chicago, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Solicitor General Elena Kagan — to inform them that he had selected Judge Sotomayor.

White House officials worked into the night to prepare for the announcement, without knowing who it would be.

Judge Sotomayor has sat for the last 11 years on the federal appeals bench in Manhattan. As the top federal appeals court in the nation’s commercial center, the court is known in particular for its expertise in corporate and securities law. For six years before that, she was a federal district judge in New York.

The shooting happened at 3:10. NBC reports that the person was shot fatally. However LA Times updated at 4:05 p.m. "LAPD Sgt. Ronnie Crump said a man was shot at the entrance to the mall on La Cienega Boulevard. He was grave condition and rushed to a hospital, while two suspects ran in the direction of Beverly Hills, he said."

Monolith reports that the shooting victim at the Beverly Center shooting was the rapper Dolla.

"Earlier today Rapper “Dolla” (signed to Akon’s Konvict Music Label), was shot and killed in front of The Beverly Center Mall in Los Angeles, CA. The 21 year-old, real name Roderick Anthony Burton, was an up and coming rapper who’s song “Who Da F*ck Is That” received national airplay last year. The young talented rapper was first discovered by international R&B superstar Akon in Atlanta, GA."

Apparently the official name of the Beverly Center victim is not yet released and the above mentioned news sources only report that it's Dolla based on the word that has gotten out.

For example BallerStatus.com reports "The victim is said to be 21-year-old Atlanta rapper Dolla, who is signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label. Jillian Bachelorette, Are You The Lucky Guy? -Reallity Show-

Jillian Bachelorette
Jillian Harris will continue her journey as ABC's "The Bachelorette" tonight. She started the Bachelorette on Monday by choosing 20 lucky men from 30 contestant. They will be given an impression ROSE at the end of the episode by Harris.

Tonight she'll meet 30 potential suitors including a break dancer, restaurant owner, and even one guy who appears to be fascinated with her feet, according to the pre-meet previews.

"In terms of physical qualities, that's no so much as important to me as a guy who has a good sense of humor and is a good communicator," Harris told Bachelor/Bachelorette host Chris Harrison before the limos started to pull up. "I'm 29. I've played the games and I'm ready to have someone open and honest with me."

Jillian told Harrison that she's ready to find her husband.

"I'm hear to find my soulmate, my best friend," Harris said. "Would I want to seal the deal with an engagement? Why not? Of course. This is going to be a wild ride. I can't wait."

Okay, first (of many expected) completely ridiculous moment for the show: They actually had to provide subtitles under a guy who spoke English -- English, English, as Austin Powers would say. Bachelor #14 to emerge was Simon, a soccer coach from Yorkshire, England and the ABC folks deemed his accent was thick enough to subtitle.

"My mum sent over some teabags from England" he told Jillian. "So I'm thinking as soon as we get inside, I'll make us a cup of tea, and we'll have a chat."

Here is the 25 guys:

The first 25 guys: Kiptyn, a 31-year-old California business developer Bryan, a 28-year-old Dallas high school teacher and coach who didn't just say he wanted to sweep Jillian off her feet, he picked her up John from Indiana called her a "polished hick" Brian, a 32-year-old IT consultant from Atlanta, offered to make Jillian a cocktail and a hot dog Jake a 31-year-old pilot from Dallas Dave, a 27-year-old trucking contractor from Ohio was struck silent with nerves when he met Jillian Tanner, a 28-year-old from Denver, said he wanted to sit on a rocking chair with Jillian when they were old Michael, a 25-year-old New York break-dancing instructor Robby, a 25-year-old bartender, promised to make a special drink for Jillian John, from Idaho, confessed he was only on the show because of Jillian Texas oil man Sasha Brad, a 27-year-old from Chicago Mathue, from Kansas, had Jillian sign his cowboy hat Simon, from Yorkshire, England, offered to make Jillian a cup of tea Jesse, a 27-year-old wine maker from California Julien, a 34-year-old restaurant owner from San Diego Wes, a 32-year-old musician from Texas Kyle, a 26-year-old graphic artist from New York Adam, a 27-year-old California cyclist Stephen, a 30-year-old New York lawyer Juan, a 35-year-old California contractor who's originally from Argentina Caleb, a 27-year-old from Nashville Josh, a 25-year-old lifeguard from California Greg, a 31-year-old entrepreneur from Arizona, who marries couples in his free time. Mark, a 26-year-old pizza shop owner asked Jillian about her favorite pizza toppings.

The final five showed up after the show had been airing for an hour and 15 minutes. Ed, a 29-year-old self-proclaimed optimist and technology consultant from Chicago and Tanner, a 30-year-old Dallas financial analyst with a foot fetish, were in the last group.

Jillian's favorite so far seems to be Kiptyn. Though the break-dancing competition between Michael and Greg must have been a highlight. Producers are giving a lot of airtime to Argentina-born Juan, lawyer Stephen, pilot Jake, winemaker Jesse and break dancer Michael. Jillian didn't seem impressed with Atlanta's Brian. He called Jillian a sassy little minx before sharing his Alabama upbringing and tales of trailer parks.

You must watch If I Wrote A Note To God song

Here is the lyric:

If I wrote a note to God
I would speak whats in my soul
I'd ask for all the hate to be swept away,
For love to overflow
If I wrote a note to God
I'd pour my heart out on each page
I'd ask for war to end
For peace to mend this world
I'd say, I'd say, I'd say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven't got a clue
Need some help from you
Grant us the faith to carry on
Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin wrong
On this road we're on

If I wrote a note to God
I would say what on my mind
I'd ask for wisdom to let compassion rule this world
Until these times
If I wrote a note to God
I'd say please help us find our way
End all the bitterness, put some tenderness in our hearts
And I'd say, I'd say, I'd say

Give us the strength to make it through
Help us find love cause love is over due
And it looks like we haven't got a clue

Give us hope when it seems all hope is gone
Cause it seems like so much is goin wrong
On this road we're on

No, no no no
We can't do this on our own
So

CIF SOUTHERN SECTION DIVISION II SWIMMING FINALS RESULT

The Southern section division II Swimming Arena,

WALNUT — From the moment her form resurfaced after diving into each of her two individual events Saturday, the outcomes of Yumi So’s races were never in doubt.

As her lead steadily increased over the seven other swimmers in the lanes around her, all in attendance at Saturday’s CIF Southern Section Division II finals at Mount San Antonio College nonetheless remained captivated, riveted not on whether she would win, nor by how much, but simply how quickly.

The expectation was to see records fall. The reigning All-Area Girls’ Swimmer of the Year fulfilled that not once, but twice, defending her titles in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke in Division II-record times, with her mark of 53.03 seconds in the 100 butterfly also setting a new state record.

Yet, the most dominant individual force in the pool Saturday left wanting more.

“I was a little disappointed with my race,” said So, whose stated intent in the 100 butterfly was to take down the national high school record of 52.41, set by Misty Hyman of Shadow Mountain High in Arizona in 1996, which is .3 seconds under So’s personal best. “I wanted to go at least around my [personal best] time, at least a 52.50, so I could have more confidence in me for [the CIF] Masters [meet on Tuesday].”

At the Masters meet at Belmont Plaza pool in Long Beach, which pits the best from all CIF divisions against each other, So will have one more chance to break the high school record after breaking her own 2008 Division II record of 54.42 twice in two days, including at Friday’s prelims with a 54.11.

She may also find some more competitive races in store at Masters, something that was entirely lacking on Saturday.

So led by a body length by the midway point of her two races and finished first in each by even more, winning the 100 backstroke by more than 2.05 seconds, in 54.21, and the 100 butterfly by 1.91 seconds. The Division II 100 backstroke record was 55.06, by Maureen Farrell of Alemany in 2001.

So also dazzled in the consolation heat of the 400-freestyle relay, in which the Falcons team of So, Julia Warden, Adrienne Ingalla and MacKenzie Hobby were entered as an alternate, swimming her split in a blistering 51.25.

“As always, it’s just a pleasure to watch her swim,” said Crescenta Valley girls’ Coach Robert Miller, whose team placed 18th in Division II on Saturday with a team score of 42 points, 40 of which came from So’s two wins. “Taking it out that first 50 yards and being a body length ahead on the butterfly just sets the tone for the whole day.”

So has now won a total of five CIF titles in three career Division II finals appearances and Saturday marked the fourth time she has set a new division record in her signature event, the butterfly.

“She sets her goals high and she works for it,” Miller said of So, who is an accomplished club swimmer on the junior national circuit and competed in the 2008 Olympic Trials.

Crescenta Valley’s boys’ team used its greatest depth at a CIF-final meet in years to pull off a seventh-place finish with 128 points, which was the program’s best finish in longtime Coach Jan Sakonju’s memory.

“The boys were hoping for better times, but having the prelims and finals so close together, a lot of the swimmers today, not just ours, had a hard time matching their times from [Friday] or improving them,” Sakonju said. “But, overall, they did really well and they did a really good job [Friday] to qualify for the positions they got.”

The Falcons’ 400 freestyle relay team of Tristan Winterhalter, Chris Veselich, Andrew De Jong and Sharif Alaoui finished fifth in 3:10.39 and Alaoui, Jason Kim, De Jong and Winterhalter swam the 200-medley relay in 1:38.65 to take seventh place.

Crescenta Valley got strong individual races from Alaoui in the 200 (sixth, 1:42.00) and 100 freestyle (sixth, 46.49), De Jong in the 200-individual medley (sixth, 1:58.47), Winterhalter in the 50 freestyle (seventh, 21.73) and Kim in the 100 backstroke (seventh, 54.44).

“Sharif will probably be at [Masters] and our medley and 400 freestyle relays should be able to get in, as well,” Sakonju said.

Glendale High junior Katalina Sher placed seventh in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.18 and nearly won the consolation heat of the 100 freestyle, finishing second in 53.58.

“I felt like it went really well,” Sher said. “[Finals] is quite intimidating at first because you just have one chance to make it, but once you let go of your nerves you just go out and race and get used to it.”

Wayman Tisdale Death

Former NBA player Wayman Tisdale death on Friday Morning

The Associated Press 12:03 PM CDT, May 15, 2009

TULSA, Okla. - Wayman Tisdale, a three-time All-American at Oklahoma who played 12 seasons in the NBA, died after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 44.

Tisdale died Friday morning at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, hospital spokeswoman Joy McGill said.

After three years at Oklahoma, Tisdale played in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns. The 6-foot-9 forward, with a soft left-handed touch on the court and a wide smile off it, averaged 15.3 points for his career. He was on the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the 1984 Olympics.

After basketball, he became an award-winning jazz musician, with several albums making the top 10 on the Billboard charts.

"Wayman Tisdale is one of the best people I have ever had the privilege of knowing," Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel said in a statement. "He had an incredible gift of making the people who came in contact with him feel incredibly special."

Tisdale's death was announced on the Oklahoma Senate floor Friday by Senate Majority Leader Todd Lamb, who led the chamber in prayer.

"Whether you're a Cowboy or a Sooner, Oklahoma has lost a great ambassador," Lamb said. "He was a gifted musician, a gifted athlete and he just wore that well wherever he went."

The famously upbeat Tisdale learned he had cancerous cyst below his right knee after breaking his leg in a fall at his home in Los Angeles on Feb. 8, 2007. He said then he was fortunate to have discovered the cancer early.

"Nothing can change me," Tisdale told The Associated Press last June. "You go through things. You don't change because things come in your life. You get better because things come in your life."

His leg was amputated last August and a prosthetic leg that he wore was crimson, one of the colors of his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He made a handful of public appearances in recent weeks, including one April 7 at an Oklahoma City Thunder game where he received the team's Community Hero Award.

Also within the past month, Tisdale was honored at the Greenwood Cultural Center in his hometown of Tulsa and presented with the Legacy Award. During the ceremony, he spoke about his cancer, saying "In my mind, I've beaten it."

Last month, Tisdale was chosen for induction into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.

He was the first freshman to be a first-team All-American since freshmen were allowed to play again in 1971-72. He was also one of 10 three-time All-Americans: The others were Oscar Robertson, Bill Walton, Lew Alcindor, Pete Maravich, Patrick Ewing, Tom Gola, Jerry Lucas, David Thompson and Ralph Sampson. Ewing and Tisdale were the last to accomplish the feat, from 1983-85.

Tisdale played on an Olympic team that sailed to the gold medal in Los Angeles, winning its game by 32 points. The squad was coached by Bob Knight and featured the likes of Ewing, Michael Jordan, Sam Perkins and Chris Mullin.

Tisdale averaged 25.6 points and 10.1 rebounds during his three seasons with the Sooners, earning Big Eight Conference player of the year each season.

He still holds Oklahoma's career scoring record with 2,661 points and career rebounding record with 1,048. Tisdale also owns the school's single-game scoring mark, a 61-point outing against Texas-San Antonio as a sophomore, along with career records in points per game, field goals and free throws made and attempts.

In 1997, Tisdale became the first Oklahoma player in any sport to have his jersey number retired. Two years ago, then-freshman Blake Griffin asked Tisdale for permission to wear No. 23, which Tisdale granted. Griffin went on to become the consensus national player of the year this past season as a sophomore.

"His basketball talent and accomplishments pale in comparison to the impact he had on the lives that he influenced by the way he lived his life, and the tremendous character he displayed in his fight with cancer," Capel said. "Throughout it all, he always had that infectious smile. This is an incredibly sad day as we have lost not only one of the greatest Sooners ever, but one of the all-time best people to walk the face of this earth."

Wayman Tisdale is survived by his wife, Regina, and four children.
